5 reasons to have a printed brochure

You make or distribute a bunch of products – right? If not, maybe, you sell a range of services. So how do you explain your product to people when you’re not there?

In a digital media age, do you still need a physical brochure? After all, they’re the past aren’t they? And printing is expensive and they take up a whole bunch of room somewhere in the office. Surely a digital brochure would be better? Or is it….?

Let’s have a little look and see if we can’t find a few reasons why you should still produce a printed brochure.

1. Comprehension

Recent studies have suggested that those who read on a digital platform like an iPad or Kindle are less able to remember what they’ve read – “students who read texts in print scored significantly better on the reading comprehension test than students who read the texts digitally”. Who wants that to happen to your carefully constructed words in your brochure – we want those prospects to remember you!

2. Leave Behinds

Your sales representatives just love to have something to talk through and leave behind following a sales visit. It reminds your customer of the reason for seeing the company, is much larger than a business card usually which helps when they need to call you and prompts unrelated sales through their passing on the brochure to other interested parties. Prospects also have a reason to remember you as the people who brought that fantastic brochure with them.

3. Value

For some industries, the brochure can become a collectible item. Ebay has an entire section on collectible brochures and a nice explanation of the hobby. Cars, guitars, and tractors are just some of the most popular items. Of course, the best looking brochures are the most highly sought after.

4. Smell

Get it printed nicely and brochures just smell great. Rifling through a new copy of your brochure and catching a whiff of printers ink wafting from the pages – just great.

5. Feel Good Factor

There’s something about seeing your brochure in physical form that says, ‘hey, we made that, that’s us’. You can point to it as a sign of progress in your company and know that things are going the right way. It gives you a sense of history and progression too as the brochures get amended and adjusted over the years.

To your clients, the brochure is a sign that your company is doing well, has tangible products and services and is visible proof that your company is healthy and vibrant.

Lastly, you can give some to your employees to take home and try to explain to their family what they do for a living!
